Working Out With Alexa: 5 Ways AI Can Boost Your Fitness | Būband | Breast support bands for active women

Looking for a solution to keep your exercise on track? Technology has a new option for in-home (or at the office) workouts: Amazon Alexa or Google Home virtual assistants – aka virtual fitness trainers. 

I have Alexa, Amazon's voice-activated, cloud-based artificial intelligence virtual assistant and speaker. In fact, I have two, one in my living room and one in my office. After I discovered the ease of asking Alexa the weather, what's playing at the local theatre, or to play my favorite music, I started exploring the other things Alexa can do, including exploring how Alexa can help me meet my fitness goals. 

Check out how your own personal virtual assistant can help you get active!

1. Set My Workout Schedule
I'm not a clock watcher; I can easily work at my desk eight hours straight and forget to grab a coffee or take that lunch-time walk I promised myself. To make sure I schedule activity into my workday, I ask Alexa to tell me when it's time to take my walk. 

Alexa, remind me to go for a walk every Monday at 12 noon.

2. Workout Playlist 
I like to do yoga at home with some of my favorite morning music playing to wake me up, warm me up and help me start moving.

Alexa, add this song to my yoga playlist. 

3. Provide a Guided Workout
With hundreds of fitness routines (called skills) and more added every day, these are the top workouts on Alexa:

4. Monitor Your 10K Steps 
Alexa integrates with other devices and apps. In addition to syncing with your TV streaming device, Alexa can link with FitBit or other health apps to track your fitness activity and health goals.

5. Track Your 30-Day Challenge 
Creating new habits requires repetition and consistency. 30-Day Fitness Challenges are a popular method to achieve new fitness goals and habits. Alexa skills has several built-in 30-day challenges, or you can set a command with Alexa to remind you to perform your own challenge every day for 30 days.
