We know feeding the body healthy, nourishing food is good for us, but what about feeding the soul at the same time?

Award-winning nutrition expert Andrea Holwegner, founder and president of Health Stand Nutrition Consulting, says that eating for enjoyment can’t be overlooked on journey to a healthy diet. In fact, she’s known as the chocoholic nutritionist and for good reason.

“I want you to get enough geeky vegetables in your diet, eat healthy, plan your meals, all that stuff you hear about being important for overall wellness, but by the same token, I also want you to have a soulful, loving relationship with food and that means all food, not just kale,” Andrea says.

“I want you to love chocolate and potato chips as well because there is absolutely room to include those as well in balanced living.”

Andrea, who has counseled hundreds of individuals, including Olympic athletes, CEOs and families on the benefits of healthy eating, says it all comes down to being intentional with your choices, not eating whatever's in reach.

“You can eat anything, just not everything,” she says.

“What I find most approaches around healthy eating look like is that they tell people what’s healthy but then they never really tell people how to fit in how to eat well but don’t tell you how to fit in pizza nights on Fridays with your kids. The goal of balanced living is to start with what you love and absolutely couldn’t live without – chocolate is one of those for me – and wrap healthy eating around it.”
