We all know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday – a time to snag some fantastic deals before the holiday season gets into full swing. It’s the single biggest consumer weekend of the year, with billions of dollars spent in the United States alone, and we’ll be part of it, offering our own amazing deals.
So just imagine the good that can be realized if a portion of those profits went to supporting charitable organizations. That’s what #GivingTuesday hopes to inspire. But you don't have to be a business to take part. #GivingTuesday is also about doing good on the day, any way you can – donating your time, talents, resources, even your online influence to support the day through positive posts and tweets.
The global day of giving, which falls on November 28th this year, is fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. As its website says, #GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving.
The movement kicks off the charitable season and has been gaining momentum in Canada, the United States and around the world since it started in 2012. Last year, 1.64 million gifts were given and $177 million raised online in almost 100 countries.
We believe in building and supporting our Būband community and the community at large. That’s why we have committed to donating a portion of our Black Friday Cyber Monday profits to one of our favorite organizations, Girls on the Run.
Girls on the Run focuses on girls aged 8-13 and aims to "inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running."
Over a 10-week period, girls of all physical ability and fitness levels participate in a program that includes a healthy lifestyle curriculum, interactive lessons, running games and skills development. The program focuses on exploring new ideas, cultivating empathy and strengthening connection. At the end of the program, girls take part in a celebratory 5K run to show them just how far they've come!
This Black Friday Cyber Monday, we’ll be offering fabulous deals on the Būband, which you won't want to miss. But even better, the purchases you make over those four days at www.buband.com will also help girls lead a happier, healthier, more joyful lives! #bBetterTogether
