EVERY WEDNESDAY IN OUR PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP, BOUNCELAB, WE INTERVIEW AMAZING WOMEN FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE. WE RECENTLY TALKED TO MARTINE YZERMAN, OWNER OF PELOTON CYCLING.
Have you ever wondered why so many people are in love – maybe even a little bit obsessed – with spinning? We've got the goods from Martine Yzerman, founder of Peloton Cycling, who tells us everything you need to know to prep for your first class or rock your 100th!
Spinning is indoor cycling and is a killer workout that Martine says everyone can do, not just the ultra fit. That's good news for those of us looking for a low-impact, high-cardio exercise that burns lots of calories, or some cross-training to complement our other activities.
"The number one thing people think is they have to be in shape before they take a spinning class, and that's the farthest thing from the truth! There's no experience required," says Martine.
"The most important thing is to be sitting correctly on the bike. That is often overlooked... If you're uncomfortable, chances are really big that you're not coming back. It could have been a great class with great music and great video... We pride ourselves on riding as you would outdoors. So I'm always talking about proper cycle set-up so you don't get injuries or stress."
And don't worry about finding the perfect outfit for the class (or even the right cycling shoes, which are supplied). Martine debunks the myths and get you spin-ready for your first (or next) spin class.
